Most frequent questions and answers

You will need approximately 6-8 treatments in order to see a reduction of hair in the specific area (this is the perfect time to advertise Alpha Laser Clinic’s packages). After these sessions are completed, you may find you will need 2-3 treatment sessions per year to maintain the results. This however varies for each specific individual; some clients choose to do more sessions and some choose to do less depending on their hair growth. But not to worry, we are here to help you decide what is best for you to maintain the results when the time comes.

You are absolutely more than welcome to choose however may sessions you prefer as part of the PAYG plan. However, we do advise you to complete the full course of treatments for optimum results – you won’t achieve the best results with a few sessions. Not only will it waste your money but also your time – and we don’t want that!

At Alpha Laser Clinic, we use the latest generation Polaris Nd Yag laser which isn’t only one of the most effective lasers out there but it is also the safest. It is known to be the most successful on Asian skin types.

These are both very very different. IPL is not a laser, it makes a slight difference to very fine hair but isn’t an effective choice for thick course hair. IPL doesn’t target the hair specifically. The light on IPL heats the skin and causes some disruption to the follicle but only a very tiny percentage of hair gets damaged, therefore the reason it is only effective on fine hair. On the other hand, the light on the Nd Yag is very concentrated and allows the laser to penetrate much further into the hair follicle in order to target the root of the hair, it then destroys the hair follicle whilst no damage is made to skin.. To put it simply, IPL heats the skin and may cause some reduction on few hairs whereas Nd Yag targets each hair follicle specifically.

The clinic you went to probably had a different type of hair removal machine, maybe IPL – which is a lot cheaper than medical grade lasers that we use. We use Nd Yag laser which is not only the best but

also the safest and is proven to achieve best results, therefore the price is slightly higher. We still try our best to put our prices as low as we possibly can for our clients.

If the clinic that the client went to also use the same machine – then inform them Alpha Laser Clinic’s Price Match Promise – we won’t only provide you with a price match promise, but we’ll do you one even better and provide you with a quote 10% cheaper than the other clinic! Please leave your name, number and clinic details and we will get back to you shortly.

If the clinic the client went to use a different laser but still find our prices too expensive for them – inform them of our “Refer a friend, Receive 10% off your treatment” Plan. Also, inform them to follow Alpha Laser Clinic’s page on Instagram and keep an eye out for our posts as we will be posting monthly discounts, offers and giveaways.

You will come in for a free consultation and patch test with one our qualified clinicians. They will assess your skin and hair type, give you a free patch test and provide a quote. This is a chance for you to ask your clinician as many questions as you like as well as being more informed of laser hair removal altogether. When are you available for a consultation? (Book then in within the next few days if possible – consultations are only 30 minutes). After the consultation, we would ask you to wait 24 hours to see if you have a reaction to the patch test. If all is well, you are free to book your first session as soon as the next day!

Unfortunately, we’re unable to do that due to the risks involved. It is our duty to provide the safest treatments for all our clients and it is imperative that all clients are provided with a patch test before beginning their treatment. The reason we do a patch test is to ensure you do not react badly to the laser and by law we must wait approximately 24 hours after the patch test to begin your treatment.

This all depends on the package you decide to choose. If you choose our PAYG payment choice, you would have to pay each session. If you are choosing our popular 6-8 session packages, we allow our clients to pay in instalments as we understand it is difficult to pay a large sum altogether. These packages allow you to pay in small instalments during the first few months, this will be discussed with you on the consultation with your clinician and I’m sure we can make an arrangement that’s suitable to your needs!

You will have to keep an eye on the treatment area in the days following your session but in general, laser hair removal shouldn’t impact a great deal on your normal routine. You should avoid a few things such as intense sunlight, perfumed products, intense heat, waxing and threading. Always wear SPF when being outdoors. Avoid wearing foundation and doing anything that will cause you to sweat intensely 24 hours after leaving the treatment.

Before the treatment you would need to shave the area that is being treated, please do not wax as this practically makes the laser ineffective. On the day of your treatment, you would need to ensure there is nothing on the surface of the skin, no make up, no moisturiser, no creams or ointment. Other than this, there is nothing too demanding to prepare for beforehand, your clinician will go through this on the day of your consultation.

Most client claim laser causes them mild pain and usually describe it as an elastic band hitting the skin. This is usually extremely brief and only lasts a few seconds. We use a cooling air system and apply ice to sensitive areas to help reduce any discomfort. However, most clients report the pain as bearable.

No! There is no form of hair removal that can be medically classified as “permanent”, laser hair removal can reduce your hair growth by approximately 70%-90% if all sessions are carried out at the right timing but we can not inform you it is 100% permanent. Most clients find that some hair does regrow with time and age. However top up treatments are available to effectively and efficiently maintain hairfree skin. Further more, any hair that does grow back over the years, is usually finer and lighter. Laser hair removal does remain the most effective form of long term hair removal.

It is difficult to give an exact price for a laser hair removal treatment because the number of sessions needed vary for each person, and because the size of the treatment area will also strongly influence the final price. The best way to find out how much your treatment will cost is by booking a consultation, during which we will be able to assess how many treatments you will need, and can provide you a quote on the cost

Laser treatments have thus far proven to be extremely safe, but there can be instances where some minor side effects occur. These will usually resolve quickly. May include some reddening and irritation of the skin in the days following a session. Redness can usually resolve within 3 days of a treatment. Tingling sensations can sometimes also persist around treated areas, and this is also perfectly normal. Rare and unusual side effects include changes in pigmentation, bruising, and the formation of scabs or crusts, however this is very uncommon. This will all be discussed with you on your consultation.

We hope to have answered all your questions. However, if you have any further questions, you can email us at [email protected], and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
